Free Creative Resources at Libraries in NZ
Libraries around New Zealand are places where anybody may study, make, create, and design. Libraries will astound people since they frequently have innovative software, laptops, and the internet available at all times. The majority of what is offered is free of charge, including materials courses to fund this service and unrestricted access to our creative resources for all community members. For instance, the main libraries around the big cities will provide 3D printing, Sewing and Embroidery Machines! How cool is that?
Free space to build or repair bikes
Flat tyre? Rusty parts? RAD Bikes(Recycle A Dunger) can help! RAD is a not-for-profit community bike shed in central Christchurch. It is a workshop space where anyone can build or repair a bicycle for themselves and/or help restore bicycles to give away. They provide bikes, tools, parts and technical guidance within a workshop where all can share their time, skills and ideas. RAD Bikes began as a Gap Filler project in 2013 to test the concept of cycle recycling and assisted DIY repairs.
The Tool Lendary - cheap lending of a great range of tools
This project is part of the Placemaking At One Central programme, a partnership between Fletcher Living and Gap Filler to help create great central city residential communities. The Tool Lendary is especially useful for those who have all the convenience of living in the inner-city but no space for a garage or workshop. It offers a valuable resource to those moving to the city centre as higher-density neighbourhoods. It's basically a "tool library", which works similarly to a regular library hiring books. Instead, they lend out all sorts of useful tools for home – such as garden tools for the backyard or tools for building that dream fence!
